Note: The projects during the years 2016-2021 were done by Storytellers Inc. under the direction of Michael Toombs. I was and continue to be one of the artists for Storytellers.
Most of these murals use a method called 'Creative Placemaking' (CP). The process of CP involves bringing local artists and community members together through a creative project i.e. a mural. These creative projects revolve around many topics that include social issues and history within the community.
Bringing different people together to paint provides an opportunity for them to socialize with one another. Not only is this a good way to lessen the divide in the country, but also to build a project that the community can feel involved in and be proud of.

Common Ground (2019)
Location: Topeka Police Department - Topeka, Kansas
In the midst of the Black Lives Matter protests, and the uneasy tensions between the Police and the Community... The idea for this project was born. The Chief of Police in Topeka at the time (Chief Cochren) had brought in several people to come up with this mural - Storytellers Inc. being one of them. I, as well as, other local and Kansas City artists were charged with creating this piece. Common Ground portrays a history of the Topeka Police Department, it's fallen officers, the community and displaying the way forward out of the storm of these turbulent times. As a result of this project, the team was given a Proclamation by the Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelley in December of 2019.
